Jackfruit Crumble

Here's one of those recipes from my mom's collection. One that has childhood memories attached to it. I've been meaning to prepare this since a long time, however the aroma of a ripe jackfruit is too tempting to keep aside for the crumble. Recently my nephew visited us with a generous helping of this luscious fruit, so I decided to finally try it out.

Ingredients-
1cup roasted rice flour
1cup jackfruit pulp
1cup grated coconut
jaggery to taste
salt to taste
3 cardamoms crushed
1/2 tsp cumin powder
1/4 cup water

Preparation-
  • Mix all the ingredients well together.
  • Grease a pan and place the mixture into it.
  • Steam or pressure cook.
    • Serve warm.
    • Enjoy!

  1. I love jackfruit on its own. Doubt there'll ever be any left for making a dessert :P You crumble looks delicious. I guess worth to keep some to try. But sadly, there's no jackfruit here :(

  3. Ooo... what a fabulous flavour! I love jackfruit so much but the bad news is.... jackfruit is some kind of curse to me. I'll have to stay in the toilet after taking them. haha..... Hope you're having a great day, honey!

  9. Oh that looks just too good! I have a big weakness for jackfruit ice cream. If I could figure out how to get hold of some fresh jackfruit around here without going into San Francisco, I'd love to try it. Maybe the South Asian market in Santa Rosa will have some fresh. Wonderful recipe!

  12. What I wouldn't give for a piece of fresh jackfruit or a couple of juicy large boras. It has been 21 years!!!!

  13. This looks good. and easy to make. I remember when I was growing up in the Philippines, my grandparents' backyard has a couple of jackbruit trees. And my grandfather will just get a fruit and we eat it right there. I would really love to try this. Thank you for sharing.
