Edible Diyas- Guest Post

I did my very first guest post Edible Diyas for Mary Ann Dames at Reading Writing and Recipes. Mary Ann had given us a precious post on picky eaters- Who's in Control? some months ago. Her blog includes both kid-friendly recipes as well as reading, writing and fun activities for kids. A must visit for parents and kids. Hop over to read my post.

I'd like to give you a little behind the scenes to this post. Mary Ann had given me ample time for this post, but given the scenes in my home, here's what happened. We had done a trial round, since I wanted to get the dough right, both my kids love to play with dough. I had intended to get pictures of them helping out, however when I did prepare it later Joel was down with fever. By the time I had completed the dish I ran out of sunlight for the pictures. I took a few pictures and asked Joel to hold the diya as well. Finally I decided to upload them and check if I needed to take any more. While I started the laptop, I hear-
Joel- Hmm, its yummy!
Me- What's yummy?
Joel- The diyas you prepared.
Me- You ate them?
Joel- No, I was only checking if they were good... I kept it back.
So I went to the scene of crime to see what was happening. There was a half eaten diya placed exactly where it was supposed to be. Well I cant blame him after making him pose with it in his hand.
I can truly say my recipes are mom approved and kid tested!

  5. Shirley, Thank you for creating such a yummy recipe and helping me out on my blog at the same time. I can't believe you did this with a sick child on your hands. Kudos. Thanks, too for your people who visited my blog. It was fun to have new visitors.
