Carrot Flowers

Carrot flowers can add colour and cheer to any serving! Besides being very simple to carve, they are a hit with kids. Add them to their bento or lunch box and you can be sure they will be eaten. In fact my son said his friends want to eat his carrot flowers even though they bring carrot sticks in their boxes. Visually appealing and exciting for kids.

Method-

  • Take the thick part of a carrot, chop off the head and scrape off the skin/peel.

  • Cut in 5 wedges vertically, such that you can ease it off the pieces .

  • And you are left with a flower shape.

  • All you need to do is slice the carrot as you would otherwise and voila you have some good looking carrot flowers!

Enjoy!

  3. I wondered how you make the flowers. It looks great. I tried making one and I wasted a lot of the carrots.

  4. Good job, dear! Chinese pay a lot of attention when carving these carrots & you can see this in many Chinese dishes. I love carving these too & adding them to soups etc. Great tutorial!
