This month for my Secret Recipe Club assignment, I was assigned Shari's blog My Judy the Foodie. Since I am in the middle of my summer vacation, I had plenty of time to enjoy browsing through Judy's blog and finally decided to prepare Summer Coleslaw.
Though I prepare coleslaw regularly, I liked the idea of using white grapes and almonds, which I found a twist to my regular recipe.
I have to say it was an instant hit with the family, my little daughter couldnt wait till I finished with the pictures. As soon as I told her I was done, she made a grab for it, so did the rest of the family. And after the first tasting there was scrapping for more. Finally I've promised to do this again this evening. I replaced the sugar with honey and used red onions. The grapes were chilled and that gave the coleslaw the required punch!! Thank you Shari.
Ingredients-
1 medium head of cabbage (red or green)
2 cups of grapes (red or green)
1 cup slivered almonds
1 tsp honey
1 tsp dry mustard
1 tbs vinegar
fistful grated red onion
1 cup mayonnaise
Preparation-
- Toss all the ingredients together and enjoy!
Wow, what a great twist on coleslaw. They sound like tasty additions.
